Bartering Complementary Skills

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about how bootstrapping entrepreneurs can help each other out using complementary skills.

Then suddenly the metaphor popped into my head:

"Mother Lover" - the second SNL digital short starring Justin Timberlake and Andy Sanberg.

Don't go there if you have any moral-dietary restrictions, otherwise, enjoy a good laugh!

Btw, the first of this series is called "Dick in a Box", which aired in December 2006.

Update (Oct 19, 2009): I just edited this blog post after nearly 3 years, mainly to update the link and to add the second video in the series. The helpful message from the new editor in blogger was:
"Not sure what to put in the box? First, find the page on the web that you want to link to. (A search engine might be useful.) Then, copy the web address from the box in your browser's address bar, and paste it into the box above."

Gaand Mein Danda

If you don't know Hindi, you probably won't relate to it.

Turns out the youth culture in India is alive and well, and quite creative too.
Here's a hilarious- and a very melodious song, Gaand Mein Danda, from "Bodhi Tree", a student band from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Read along with the lyrics for total enjoyment ;)

Some of their other hits include:
- Sabka Katega
- Too Many Potatoes
- XL Ki Kudiyan

Here's some more on the topic if you're intrigued:

Boxers or Briefs?

I must be nuts to address this age-old question.

Anyway, did you know the source of the popularity of this seemingly risque question?

Not that I didn't ponder this question myself for years.

Hmm ... Boxers, or Briefs?

You see, growing up, I felt that boxers were too clumsy inside the trousers and ride up your thighs - so they were never an option for me. Yet briefs grip you in a chokehold, not letting you breathe.

So, I'll confess. I tried boxers a few years ago. And got hooked on to them- I liked that I can lounge around in them.

But of course, as any man can tell you, boxers have, ahem, disadvantages.

And did you know that you are risking getting a hernia if you're running up and down stairs wearing boxers inside? Now that should scare you into giving up boxers! If you don't know what hernia is, and you didn't check the above link, take a look at this slideshow. It certainly scared my boxers off!

I'm now switching to boxer-briefs. Little more freedom than briefs, a…

Micro-lending for Agile Entrepreneurs

These are indeed exciting times for the bootstrapping entrepreneur! If you haven't already, please join our self-help networking group, Agile Entrepreneurs where entrepreneurs help each other with a variety of issues in a format borrowed from the Toastmasters club.

And if you're in a tight spot for money, you should join our group on Prosper.com, an excellent people-to-people lending web-site that I wish had found six months ago. In fact, I wish I had founded this group a year ago! I had certainly been talking about the concept- my friend Pravin can attest to that fact.

Regardless, I've dived in and created a closed group in Prosper, called Agile Entrepreneurs. I intend to invite other entrepreneurs to join the group and use it to raise small loans until they are able to generate cash flow or get funding.

And if you're looking to make money while helping out your fellow entrepreneurs, you should support Agile Entrepreneurs on Prosper.

You make money on the interest that i…
